Building a Kuku Mobile - Affordable Chicken Shed

With Support from the Rockefeller Foundation, Farm Concern International is spearheading a movement to promote youth participation in Agriculture through the Youth in Agriculture Trade and Enterprises Programme, YATE. The YATE Programme, which has evolved into the YATE Business Model aims at tapping into the creativity and energy of youth, empowering them to contribute to rural economies, better nutritional values and the agriculture of developing countries. The Business Model has been tested in two regions. In Ndeiya, Kiambu District in Kenya, the participating youth were drawn from 22 villages while in Kanyuambora in Embu District, Kenya; the youth were drawn from 18 villages. In Total, 282 youth aged between 18-35 years were engaged through YATE. The Business Model aims to change perceptions, to identify suitable enterprises, and explore innovations that improve productivity … so that the young can succeed in Agribusiness! It does this through the Commercial Village Model, which evolves social entities like youth groups to socioeconomic entities which can work together to realise greater goals.
